Less Hardware, More Pool — What's Built Into Every AquaLink® EDGE™
For years, building a modern, high-end pool has felt more like building a giant 3D puzzle than executing a streamlined construction plan, especially when custom lighting’s involved. Hanging separate external transformers for every lighting setup, running more wire just to get different components to talk to one another — the process has been anything but simple.
Moreover, every extra box on the wall is another SKU to track, another potential failure point, and more time spent on wiring and maintenance instead of moving to the next job. In many cases, the complexity starts before you even set foot on the job site. Different pool types—pool-only, pool-spa combo, dual equipment configurations—each have their own unique requirements. If anything changes during the project, you might have to go back to square one.
With AquaLink EDGE, the era of cluttered equipment pads and inventory headaches is over. We’ve re-engineered automation from the ground up, building extensive core capabilities directly into a single, preassembled enclosure. It’s less hardware for more pool, a faster install every time, and more profitability in service professionals’ pockets.
Integrated Lighting — An Industry First
Lighting is one of the most common upgrades pool owners want, but it has historically been a headache for electricians. AquaLink EDGE changes that dynamic by introducing the industry’s first integrated low-voltage LED power supply built directly into the controller.
"Every system is both salt and light ready," says Jeremy Young, Director of Product Marketing for Automation at Fluidra. "We're going to be able to run those systems without additional transformers externally. We're supporting up to 150 watts of light right out of the box. That's going to not only reduce all the things that are hanging on the wall, but integrate the experience into the can."
In practice, that means:
- No external transformers: AquaLink EDGE natively supports up to ten 15-watt LED lights without needing a single external power supply.
- Cost and time savings: By eliminating external boxes, you drastically cut down on conduit, wiring, and mounting time, expediting the installation, lowering the total job cost, and simplifying future maintenance.
- Native control: Lighting control and dimming are integrated directly into the system's core logic—no separate third-party dimmers or awkward retrofits required.
Beyond a less cluttered pad, the lighting is just plain fun. "One of my personal goals for this project has been to get people to enjoy their pools more," Young notes. "If we can entertain you with the lights, we want to do that." Seamless, built-in lighting makes it easy to enjoy vibrant, personalized night-swimming experiences that create long-lasting memories.
Salt-Ready by Design
The engineering philosophy behind the lights carries directly over to water sanitization, too. Every AquaLink EDGE system is salt-ready by design, leveraging the same integrated power supply to do more with less.
Adding salt chlorination can mean mounting a separate control box and tapping into a different power source. With EDGE, the foundation is already built in. All you have to do is install an electronic salt card — no rewiring, no replacement controller.
Once the card is installed, the system connects seamlessly to a Jandy TruClear® or TruClear® XL chlorinator cell. As such, salt becomes an add-when-needed capability, not an afterthought requiring new hardware. It’s a premium feature built into the existing footprint.
One System. Every Pool.
At the end of the day, arguably the biggest advantage of AquaLink EDGE is one-system simplification. The system eliminates the guesswork of ordering automation.
"We have one system," explains Young. "We'll sell them in different packages. If you want the pool-spa, that just means it comes with two actuators. But every system can do anything. You just add the equipment to it that you want and set it up the way you want. We're also preassembling those kits at the factory."
Whether you are building a straightforward pool-only backyard, a classic pool-and-spa combo, or a highly complex layout requiring heating or cooling for up to four separate bodies of water, you install the exact same base EDGE system. Because every kit comes preassembled from the factory, your crew can unbox it and get straight to work without wasting time on initial component assembly. That means easier inventory management, fewer ordering errors, and flexibility for every system to evolve alongside the project itself.
What This Means for Your Bottom Line
Engineering specs are interesting, but at the end of the day, the true value of AquaLink EDGE is the time it saves pool pros.
By consolidating lighting power supplies, salt chlorination controls, and multi-body water management into a single preassembled unit, EDGE eliminates the physical and logistical clutter that slows jobs down. You spend less time troubleshooting or searching for the right controller, so you can cover more ground and complete more projects. With streamlined inventory that works for every single pool you install, every project is more efficient from day one.
Build smarter, faster, and cleaner with the new standard in pool automation.
